Dukan Diet

I was listening to the radio on the way to a meeting on Friday morning and tuned into Woman’s Hour on radio 4 and listened with interest to a new diet that has hit the market – the Dukan Diet and it sounded very much like the Atkins Diet to me, but apparently is being praised as both educating and helping with weight loss and weight management. The author of The Dukan Diet is Dr Pierre Dukan the book landed in bookshops yesterday, and has been hailed as the diet that has kept French Women trim for years. There are 4 stages to the diet – and one of them you are on for life! – but I would imagine it is no hardship.

Stage 1 – The Attack Phase – this is when you must be on protein only for a week from which you proceed into the Cruise Phase which is one day protein one day vegetable then onto the Consolidation Phase where the lessons you have learned are put into practice and prevents the rebound effect which often occurs after rapid weight loss – the final phase is The Stabilization Phase and this is the phase that you stay on for good and means that one set day per week you only eat protein. This diet would suit me as I do enjoy protein and there are no particular restrictions on quantity either, another bonus.
