I have been reading that a recent survey asked New York shoppers to reveal which items of clothing they found most difficult to buy for in relation to their body type.

The survey revealed that:

• 42% of women said that pants were “The most difficult item to shop for."
• 37% finding it hard to shop for bras.
• 14% agreed that dresses, swimwear and boots were equally all difficult to purchase.

Maternity Swimwear Tips

If you are pregnant, then congratulations! For those of you who have always enjoyed a swim or fancy keeping fit during your pregnancy then you will be needing a maternity swimsuit or maternity swimwear.

Here are some tips to look out for:

• If you are conscious of your body getting bigger then go for darker colours as this will help to slim your frame
• During pregnancy your bust grows as well as your tummy area so your new maternity swimwear will need to give you extra bust support.
  
• Try to avoid strapless, or thin strapped maternity bathing suits as they will offer very little in the way of bust support.
  
• Go for wider straps on your maternity swimsuit, tankini or bikini as this will give you extra bust support.
• If you have a large bust and your bust has increased in size during pregnancy then go for adjustable straps and wide straps for comfort.
  
• A two piece, bikini, is a great idea if you feel confident with your growing maternity body, as bikinis will fit around your changing body shape and give you a balanced look as well as allowing you to show off your baby bump.
• Go for lycra based material in your maternity swimwear as this will have the most give and therefore will be more comfortable as your body grows.
• Look for maternity swimwear that has support, not only around the breast, but also around your tummy area and your baby bump.
• The tankini is a very flattering look as it covers the body, but it is also comfortable as the top allows movement around your tummy area.
• Some maternity swimsuits and tankini tops have a shelf bra inside to give extra support to the bust.
• Halterneck maternity swimwear can help to draw attention away from the stomach area to the bust area, the halterneck also draws attention away from the hip area.
• Detail around the bustline such as texture and large designs add decorative detail and help to break up the area that focuses on the cleavage, creating the illusion of curves and accentuating the area.
• If you have large hips then go for higher cut swimwear and dark colours on the bottom half to slim the area and draw attention away from the hips.
• Go with maternity swimwear that suits your body type as well as your pregnancy body!
• If you intend to do some aqua exercise such as aqua aerobics then opt for a maternity swimsuit with a bra shelf, as a tankinis will rise up when exercising in the water.
• Make sure that the maternity swimwear that you choose to buy is comfortable and is not too tight around your tummy area.

Good Bra For A Chorister

One of my customers, from Godalming in Surrey, has just phoned to say that a good bra for a chorister is the Jacquard Posture Front Fastening Bra Ref 1415 by Elila, this is available in a back fastening too, apparently the support at the back is excellent for the time you have to stand and the good posture that this bra encourages helps the assists the diaphragm and chest.

Bras Suitable For A Bell Ringer

I thought that I would share an email that I recently received as I thought it might be of interest to some of you – I agree that you will probably be in the minority as it's about female bell ringers.

One of my staff – Margaret - is a regular bell ringer and it had not occurred to me that getting a suitable bra may prove to be difficult until one of my customers contacted me asking for help so for all you campanologists out there, here is Margaret’s response:-

‘I am also a bell ringer and find the Anita 5490 Twin bra perfect. It is underwired and has shaped shoulder straps. We have this in stock in size 34E white and black. If you would like to try this item, do let us know. It could be dispatched immediately.

Dukan Diet Book
