I was reading an article this morning about British women and how many bras they own. Can you believe it, apparently British women own 124 million bras!
A survey by onepoll asked 3000 women aged 18-65 and found that typically women own 13 bras and wear about 8 of those bras regularly.
Liliana Mann says, "it’s not just Brits who hoard their bras, noting that most women in developed countries do so, particularly in recessionary times."
In a recession we may cut back on expensive luxuries like a holiday but women still buy lingerie as they feel this is a relatively inexpensive luxury.
Having different coloured bras or different types of bras for different outfits can also account for why women have so many bras. With most women having black bras, white bras and nude bras as a staple in their lingerie drawer as well as a strapless bra or multiway bra for the strapless outfit.
